Go for Broke Recap!
by Olivia Schaller--Updated
Go for Broke May has wrapped! We’ve crowned four new NSG Academy champions, and awarded nearly $800 in prize money! Check out the the VODs HERE
Street Fighter V
Street Fighter V remains one of our most popular games at Go for Broke. Our May event featured a 20 player double elimination bracket! The eventual champion Daiphone was knocked down to the losers bracket by tournament runner up Typhon in winner quarter finals, and was forced to play through the brutal gauntlet of the loser’s bracket before he was able to defeat Typhon twice in a nail biting series to secure the trophy for himself.
Guilty Gear
Guilty Gear Rev 2 features a small but passionate community at Go For Broke. For those that have followed our Guilty Gear tournaments it should come as little surprise that Lord Knight was once again able to secure himself another championship. A dominant competitor in the regional scene Lord Knight has every Go for Broke that he has entered. Check out the finals VODS!
Tekken 7
Tekken 7 proved an incredibly strong bracket. N3rd Street’s own “At least there’s casuals” (aka Komanda) was able to put up a strong run and reach the finals. Despite the home court advantage, he was defeated by Inkognito, an Eleague competitor and strong player. Check out the finals (We aren’t salty we swear)!
Dragon Ball Fighter Z
Dragon Ball Fighter Z seems to be the hottest game out right now. With the largest brackets for all of our 2018 events, this anime fighter has become the go to place for dreams to be made… or broken. The grand finals featured a match between kings, with Guilty Gear champion Lord Knight first defeating previous champ SX EMP | Rogue Yoshi, then squaring off against Street Fighter champion Daiphone. Lord Knight was able to prevail, but not before a brutal series: check it out below!
