Nerd Street Gamers’ Founder John Fazio Named To Philadelphia Business Journal ‘40 Under 40’ List

April 8, 2020 – The Philadelphia Business Journal’s prestigious “40 Under 40” list recognizes the region’s most dynamic young business leaders. Today, we’re honored to announce that our own founder and CEO, John Fazio, has been named to this list, now in its 30th year.
The award recognizes John’s leadership in guiding Nerd Street Gamers to where it is now, since founding the company, nearly four years ago. John’s idea behind founding the company was born from his first time witnessing an amateur video game tournament in-person at a local video game cafe in Pennsylvania. The experience exposed the lack of opportunities that existed for competitive gamers during that time, and the potential the esports industry could reach in the future by replicating traditional sports pipelines.
A Philadelphia-native, he then went on to attend Drexel University, where he played on the school’s Division I soccer team. At this time, he founded the web software engineering firm Jarvus, where he continued to incubate the idea for Nerd Street Gamers. The Jarvus office eventually became our first Localhost on North Third Street (N3rd Street) in Philadelphia.
Since then, we have taken the esports world by storm in the U.S. with locations spanning coast to coast. Under John’s leadership, we are growing and thriving with the core mission of bringing esports to everyone. He led the way in bringing on strategic partners like SeventySix Capital and Comcast who have supported us over the years, including during our recent $12 million Series A round and our burgeoning partnership with Five Below.
This award adds to a growing list of accolades for our company, including recently being recognized by Fast Company as one World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2020.
John’s leadership has been invaluable to our success and we’re honored to have him be recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal. We hope you stay tuned for what’s next.
