Nerd Street’s owned and operated gaming venues, known as Localhosts, are not only places where you can stop by to play your favorite games on high-quality gaming PCs and consoles. Localhosts also are the site of LAN tournaments, private events, camps, activations, watch parties and more. Every month, we’ll be spotlighting some of the best events that have happened at Localhosts around the country, from Philadelphia to Fullerton and everywhere in between. Here’s a look back at some of the fun things that happened at Localhost over the past month.

Summer camps are back!

Camp Localhost 2024 kicked off in June with young gamers taking over our Localhost venues in Philly, Denver and Rowan as well as offsite at Maryville University in St. Louis. In addition to Camp Localhost, Philly also welcomed the Philadelphia Electrical and Technical High School (PETCHS) summer camp, Philly Parks and Recreation camps and field trips, and CreateAccess' Launchpad Philly program which involved 3D Modeling and Unreal Engine development in Fortnite.

In Colorado, Denver Parks and Rec brought out a bunch of kids for a tour of Localhost including a full walkthrough, a talk about esports and the opportunities for them to be part of it moving into high school and college. Afterward they had the chance to ask questions and then play and enjoy everything the facility has to offer.

Nerd Street’s camp offerings this summer have also included a collaboration with Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union for a hybrid soccer and esports camp. The first session of this camp kicked off last month, with the kids training on the pitch at the WSFS Sportsplex at Subaru Park as well as jumping on the PCs at the Subaru Esports Hub to play Rocket League, FIFA and Fortnite.
