Arcadia University wins MACS Overwatch 2 tournament at Localhost
by Brian Bencomo
The Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Series kicked off again this spring after an inaugural run last fall. The first iteration of MACS this spring was an Overwatch 2 LAN tournament at Localhost Philadelphia the last weekend of March. The Arcadia Knights ended up beating Alvernia University’s Gold team 3-0 in the best-of-five grand final.
Eleven teams hailing from seven schools came out to compete in the MACS Overwatch 2 tournament. The following schools entered the server at Localhost Philly:
- Alvernia University (two teams)
- Arcadia University
- Carnegie Mellon University (two teams)
- Drexel University (three teams)
- Harrisburg University
- Temple University
- University of Pennsylvania
The 11 teams were initially divided into two groups with five teams in one group and six teams in the other group. After round robin play within each group, the Drexel Dragons and Temple Cherry advanced out of Group A, and Alvernia Gold and the Arcadia Knights moved on from Group B.
Arcadia beat Dexel 2-0 in one semifinal, and Alvernia beat Temple 2-0 in the other semifinal to advance to the final. Arcadia’s victory over Alvernia was a revenge match after Alvernia beat Arcadia in their round robin match, which was the Knight’s only loss during the entire tournament.

Arcadia also won the fall iteration of MACS Overwatch in a grand final that also saw them beat Alvernia to win the tournament. Arcadia went undefeated in that tournament.
